Kaziranga National Park, World Heritage Site, snuggles in the heart of Assam (a northeastern Indian state). This national park, uninterrupted by human presence, is the home of the highest population of one-horned rhinoceroses. Along with it, there are populations of various other mammals and birds found performing their natural activities in the park. This natural habitat is also considered important as it helps in the preservation of biological biodiversity. Thus, the values & criteria made this national park get enlisted amongst the World Heritage Sites (list 1985). In the year 1940, the Kaziranga National Park was acknowledged as a wildlife sanctuary of India.

Location: This national park is situated on the bank of the Brahmaputra River. Sprawled over an area of 430 sq km, covering two districts of Assam - Nagaon and Golaghat. About 175 sq km is in the Nagaon district and the remaining 135 sq km is located in the Bagori Forest Range and the 40 sq km under the Ghorakati Forest Range. 
Wildlife: Apart from, being the abode of the One-Horned Indian Rhinos, Kaziranga National Park houses a large population of mammals, and reptiles. To name a few are Indian Bison, Tigers, Swamp Deer (Barasingha), Capped Langurs, Jackal, Monitor Lizards, Indian Elephants, Hog Badgers, Leopard Cats, Wild Buffalo, Hog Deer, Pythons, Sloth Bears, Wild Boar, Jungle Cats, Hoolock Gibbons, Otters, etc.

This wildlife sanctuary is also a birding paradise. Birds like White Tailed Eagle, Black-Shouldered Kite, Oriental Honey Buzzard, Himalayan Griffon, Black Kite, Pallas's Fishing Eagle, Brahminy Kite, Grey-Headed Fishing Eagle, etc., could be seen in the park. Along with it, during winters, some of the migratory birds like Bar-Headed Geese, Falcated Duck, Northern Shoveller, Greylag Geese, Red-Crested Pochard, Gadwall, and Ruddy Shelduck, etc., could also be spotted, ensuring a remarkable experience. 
Best Time to Visit: During the months of mid-November to early April is the season to visit Kaziranga National Park and enjoy the best of its attributes.
